Kashrut and standards

Taken from the operator’s own website. A dashed outline means the operator hasn’t said, not that the answer is no.

Supervision
International Kosher Mehadrin, Rabbi Berel Simpser; catering by Prestige Caterers

Who is the supervisor?

The names below come from the operator. Each links to a page of what public sources say, with the sources.

Worth asking the operator

  • Who signs the kashrut certificate for this program, and can I see this year’s certificate?
  • How many years has he supervised this operator’s Pesach programs, and this hotel in particular?
  • Does an agency or beth din stand behind the certificate, or is it his personal hechsher?
  • Is he in the hotel for the whole of Yom Tov, and how many mashgichim work under him?

Getting there

This program is in the New York (JFK) area, so there’s no flight to plan.

Newark (EWR) has nonstops from Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago O'Hare, Toronto, London Heathrow, Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly) and Tel Aviv; JFK has them as well.

Nearly everyone drives from the New York, New Jersey or Philadelphia areas; there is also a direct train from New York Penn Station to Long Branch.

Routes come from each airport’s published route list, checked October 2026. Flight times are estimates from the distance. Airlines change schedules, so confirm before you book (route list we used).

From the airport

  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR): about 55 minutes by carThe closest major airport.
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK): about 80 minutes by carMore international flights; traffic can add a lot of time.

Driving instead

  • From Lakewood NJ: about 0.5 hours
  • From New York City: about 1.25 hours
  • From Teaneck NJ: about 1.25 hours
  • From Monsey NY: about 1.5 hours
  • From Philadelphia: about 1.5 hours
  • From Baltimore: about 3 hours
  • From Washington DC / Silver Spring: about 3.75 hours
  • From Boston: about 5 hours

Late April weather

Cool and breezy by the ocean, with days around 60°F (16°C) and nights near 45°F (7°C); the Atlantic is about 50°F (10°C), far too cold for swimming.

Good to know

  • The hotel is on the beach and you can walk to Pier Village; a car helps for everything else.
  • The large Jewish communities of Deal and Lakewood are close by.
  • It is still jacket weather on the shore in April, and the wind off the ocean is cold.
  • Eastern time zone.

Safety and travel advisories

What governments say about travel to this country. Nothing here is this site’s own judgment.

Safety information for the United States

The US State Department does not publish an advisory for its own country. Other governments do publish advice for visitors, and local police departments publish crime figures for their own cities.

This is the governments’ own wording, not a rating by this site. Israel’s National Security Council also publishes travel warnings for Israelis abroad. Ask the operator what security the program itself arranges, such as guards and entry checks.
