Pesach in Miramar Beach / Destin, Florida, USA

Getting there

We found no nonstop flight from New York (JFK) in late April, so plan on one connection. A nonstop would take about 2.5 hours; with a connection allow several hours more.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS) lists nonstops from Newark, Miami and Chicago O'Hare. Some of these do not fly every day, so check the schedule.

Most guests fly in with one connection through a large southern hub airport, or drive from the Southeast.

Routes come from each airport’s published route list, checked October 2026. Flight times are estimates from the distance. Airlines change schedules, so confirm before you book (route list we used).

From the airport

  • Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS): about 35 minutes by carThe closest airport, shared with an Air Force base.
  • Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (Panama City) (ECP): about 50 minutes by carPanama City's airport, a second option to the east.

Driving instead

  • From Atlanta: about 5.25 hours

Late April weather

Pleasantly warm, with days around 75°F (24°C) and nights near 60°F (16°C); the Gulf is about 70°F (21°C), cool but swimmable.

Good to know

  • The resort has its own trams, but you need a car for anything outside it.
  • This area is on Central time, one hour behind New York.
  • There is no large Jewish community nearby, so rely on your program for all food.

Safety and travel advisories

What governments say about travel to this country. Nothing here is this site’s own judgment.

Safety information for the United States

The US State Department does not publish an advisory for its own country. Other governments do publish advice for visitors, and local police departments publish crime figures for their own cities.

This is the governments’ own wording, not a rating by this site. Israel’s National Security Council also publishes travel warnings for Israelis abroad. Ask the operator what security the program itself arranges, such as guards and entry checks.
